Olmetti, as curator as well as featured abstract artist, will be joined by exhibitors and sisters Rachel Cohen-Lunning and Merrille Lichenstien-Cohen, who form Mercura NYC. The sisters, known for their one-of-a-kind style, have designed an exquisitely futuristic collection. The duo's unique fantasy jewelry, metal fashions and table-mounted sculptures are well-suited to Olmetti's style, and in preparation for the 2009 show, Mercura NYC has two original sculpture creations that are on their way to completion, alongside scintillating sunglass creations. The Hotel Chelsea affair is designed to coincide with other noteworthy occasions: * A tribute to longtime Hotel Chelsea general manager Stanley Bard: A special tribute to Stanley Bard by Olmetti, Chelsea residents and hotel staff to celebrate his 75th birthday and his contributions to the arts. An engraved plaque will be presented by Olmetti to Bard. * Celebration of the Stonewall Rebellion: The STONEWALL Veterans' Association (S.V.A), a non-profit, volunteer, educational organization for Gay, Lesbian, Bi and Transgender (GLBT) rights worldwide, is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion. The five-night civil rights uprising marked the start of a global movement and the founding of the S.V.A. by Williamson Henderson. * Performance by noted legendary GLBT activist and Stonewall veteran, "King" Storme DeLaverie: DeLaverie toured the Black and Gay theatre circuits during the 1950s and 1960s as a master of ceremonies and the sole male impersonator of the legendary Jewel Box Revue, America's first integrated female impersonation show and forerunner of "La Cage aux Folles." He will make a singing performance of "Stormy Weather" in honor of the Stonewall Rebellion. During the show, "The Jonah Series" by Olmetti and Mercura NYC offer observers insight into their art with heart, exposing the inner beauty of the artists within. The Tappan Z Gallery of New York proudly represents the Jonah Series. The artistry of Mercura NYC and Olmetti have been featured internationally in Inspire Magazine. About Susan Olmetti Those who experience the vibrant pigments of Olmetti's creations are drawn to the abstract faces that speak from the canvas about the depth of the artist's talent. Admirers are creating expanded international exposure and a growing community of fans, allowing the artist to share the aftermath of her internal dreams and feel in their heart the positive transformation of a negative thought. Olmetti's activities and support of the Stonewall veterans has earned her the prized designation of Honorary Member of the S.V.A.
