The evening's proceeds will benefit the SWF education and research programs. Premier underwriter for this year's event is Candela Corporation with Platinum sponsors including Medicis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Dr. Frederic Brandt and Cosmetic Dermatology Inc. and The Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York. Attendees include the world's leading dermatologists, nurses and laser industry representatives.

Sturge-Weber syndrome is a rare neurological disorder whose chief characteristic is a facial port wine stain birthmark.

Tina Alster, MD, of The Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery, will co-emcee with Robert Weiss, MD of The Maryland Laser Skin & Vein Institute. The evening's chair is Melanie Wood, SWF Board member, of Houston.

Dr. Geronemus has been an active consultant to the SWF for several years and is an honorary board member.

Karen Ball, The SWF president and CEO, said, "Dr. Geronemus has been a driving force in improving laser technology, optimizing laser treatments and a reassuring presence in the lives of many SWF families. His expertise in the use of lasers as a treatment for port wine stains brings patients from around the world. Together, Dr. Geronemus's expertise and the SWF's longitudinal research has increased the pace of discovery into the cause and treatment of Sturge-Weber syndrome. He is a valued partner and we are pleased to celebrate his achievements with his colleagues."

Opportunities for sponsorship or advertisements are still available. The SWF can be reached at 800 627-5482 or at swf@sturge-weber.com.
